PRS Silver Sky

Ok, its another post with John Mayer, but I’ll admit I’ve missed some of the hooha over John Mayer’s signature guitar that’s he developed with PRS. Most reviews of this guitar are pretty consistent in that its a fabulous update on the classic Strat-inspired design, with all the tweaks and manufacturing refinements and finish that PRS bring to the table. I’ve never picked one up, so can’t begin to comment, so I’ll let Mr Mayer do his own design critique of his new guitar – there’s another Guitar Centre promotional video, where he also talks about the headstock and sums up the reasoning of not following the classic 6 in a line headstock design by wryly saying…it’s the law repeatedly. One of the few things Fender can defend legally, despite having nicked it themselves way back when from Paul Bigsby’s Merle Travis guitar…allegedly. It’s nice to hear him talk about the guitar that he clearly had worked on with PRS, not just signing a promotional deal for the biggest percentage. Old news now, but good to hear John noodle away on his new favourite six string…
